Junior Environmental Engineer
Overview

The Junior Water Resources & Environmental Engineer is an entry level position in the Land, Water & Environment Department. The jobholder provides technical support to a variety of engineering studies related to planning and design of water and sewer utility projects, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and data analysis.

What you will do

• Support the development of water supply, sewerage, storm water drainage and irrigation network concept designs, including all required drawings and reports for discussion with clients

• Support the refinement of selected design options into schematic and draft final designs, including all required drawings and reports

• Perform engineering calculations including hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tasks for a variety of water related projects

• Analyze multi-discipline designs to determine design clash detection

• Review prepared design deliverables with senior project teams and implement design revisions based on reviews and checking reports

• Support project teams in the field on projects associated primarily with supervision of wet utilities networks construction

• Support the project team members with the review and validation of design deliverables with clients and authorities, capturing feedback and obtaining approvals

• Assist in the preparation of reports documenting all findings, conclusions and recommendations resulting from the analysis

• Support in conducting environmental studies

Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

• Basic knowledge of the industry standard computer software for the position including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Civil 3D

• Familiarity with Hydrologic (e.g. HEC-HMS) and hydraulic (e.g., WaterCAD, HEC-RAS) modeling

• Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic; French is a plus

• No prior experience required
