Al-Mugaddassah with Makkah Al-Mukarramah neighborhoods with pedestrian passageways and facilities that separates pedestrians from vehicular roads/traffic to enhance pedestrians overall safety and mobility.
SETS was commissioned by MoHE to undertake the technical management of the transport and pedestrian studies aimed at the preparation of a Master and Implementation Plans for a pedestrian network and pedestrian facilities to link Al-Masha'er area with Makkah Al-Mukarramah neighborhoods, and development of the detailed conceptual design of the pedestrian network.
In addition, SETS developed a Background Material Toolkit focused on Pedestrian Corridors and Movements between Al-Masha’er Al-Mugaddassah and Makkah Al-Mukarramah, including a GIS database of the following data:
The major exiting planned and proposed transportation and infrastructure elements including Vehicular and Pedestrian Roads, Ring
Roads, Tunnels and Metro lines with all its corresponding geometric attributes.
Pedestrian counts, densities and flow characteristics on the current pedestrian corridors during the major peak periods collected from previous studies.
The geometric locations and attributes of Pedestrian squares, major mosques and the planned Haram expansion.
