The Senior Engineer- Electrical is a key member of the Electrical Design Unit. The jobholder has a thorough understanding and experience in the electrical design field and provide technical leadership, oversight and interdisciplinary coordination on electrical design projects.
• Provide technical subject matter expertise to project team members during all stages of design delivery in coordination with Unit Managers and Project Managers
• Provide technical subject matters expertise to clients during proposal stage and in client meetings during design delivery
• Assist in the distribution of the team members’ work load to ensure progress is as scheduled
• Support, review and provide expert input on project data collection to the project team
• Refine selected design options into schematic and draft final designs, including all required drawings and reports
• Closely work with project teams for reviewing design deliverables of design projects, including conducting detailed reviews and checks and the issuance of reports
• Liaise with other departments/units to ensure a proper design coordination
• Verify that applicable codes and engineering standard practices are being met
• Closely work with Project Managers for the review and validation of design deliverables with clients and authorities, capturing feedback and obtaining approvals
• Oversee junior-level staff in the preparation of calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and presentations
• Prepare reports documenting all findings, conclusions and recommendations resulting from the analysis
• Support business development activities including opportunity identification, qualification, bid/proposal development, pricing, on-site demonstrations and customer training
• Support Project Managers in managing external suppliers and subcontracts and in ensuring the adherence of their deliverables with the project scope, schedule and budget
• Provide support to Project Managers in developing periodic progress reports
• Support Project Managers with the management of client relations and expectations, as needed
• Support Project Managers in client presentations and workshops
• Conduct QA/QC on design deliverables
• Support in conducting close-out activities and derive lessons learned
• Provide assistance in conducting training sessions
• Represent SETS at the key industry events and conferences
• 7+ years of industry experience in the area of infrastructure and MEP building design services such as: indoor/outdoor lighting (including tunnel lighting), MV/LV distribution networks, emergency power/UPS, telecom networks and low current systems
• Strong knowledge of the industry standard computer software for the position including AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, Ecodial,ETAP
• Knowledge in Primavera and planning software is a plus
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
• Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic; French is a plus
