SETS is leading the second cycle of the Makkah Urban Observatory for the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites (RCMC), supporting data-driven urban planning and sustainable development in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The project focuses on updating and analyzing urban indicators, assessing economic performance, preparing a Voluntary Local Review (VLR) aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and developing interactive dashboards to support informed decision-making. The initiative also advances Makkah’s ambition to join the UN-Habitat Global Urban Observatory Network and become one of the first cities in the region to integrate AI-enabled urban monitoring capabilities. Through this assignment, SETS is helping establish a comprehensive urban intelligence platform that supports sustainable growth, enhanced governance, and evidence-based planning across Makkah.
