The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) appointed SETS to undertake a comprehensive study and design of the Riyadh Second Eastern Ring Road, a strategic transportation corridor aimed at supporting the city’s long-term mobility and growth objectives.
The project involved assessing current and future travel demand, identifying the key causes of traffic congestion, evaluating the performance of existing and planned road networks, and developing practical and sustainable mobility solutions. Using advanced transport planning methodologies, including validated macro- and micro-simulation models and extensive field surveys, SETS analyzed future transportation needs and prepared designs for the 2030 and 2040 planning horizons.
The study supports RCRC’s vision of enhancing network capacity, improving traffic operations, and delivering resilient transportation infrastructure capable of accommodating Riyadh’s continued urban expansion.
SETS’ Electromechanical and Energy team was responsible for the design of medium- and low-voltage systems, street and tunnel lighting, tunnel ventilation and fire protection systems, pumping station MEP systems, and utility protection and diversion works.z
